SOMA NOMAOI (Haramachi-city)

Boasting a history of a thousand years,
the SOMA NOMAOI FESTIVAL is held on a grand
scale in cities, towns and villages from
July 23 to July 25 every year. People dressed
as warriors going to war and processions
of warriors riding on horseback call to
mind the "AGE OF CIVIL WARS".

Otsuji-ga-taki Falls (Tamakawa-village)
|
|
It is the only waterfall along Abukuma River,
which comes from Nasu Ranges. The water
winds its way down looking like a Chinese
character “otsu”. That is why it was named
Otsujiga-taki. It is also called small Niagara
Falls because it is 100 meters wide and
affluent water falls magnificently very
full and fast.

Fudo-no-taki Falls (Namie-town)
|
|
It is one of “the 30 best waters in Fukushima”.
You take Route 114 toward Fukushima City,
it is about 10 kilometers from Namie. It
is located in Muroharagaro along Ukedo River.
In spring, it is beautiful surrounded by
fresh leaves. There is a spring whose water
is believed to give people perpetual youth
and long life. There is also a small temple
by the spring, where Fudo is enshrined.

Onogawa Fudo-taki Falls (Kita-shiobara-village)
|
|
Its water is from Onogawa Springs and chosen
one of the 100 best waters in Japan. It
falls straight down 20 meters and is very
dynamic. You can walk from the parking lot,
north of Onogawa Lake. About 500 meter walk
through the forest of beech trees takes
you to the dynamic waterfall.
