ZAO JUHYO MATSURI (YAMAGATA CITY)

|
YAMAGATA ZAO is one of the world’s leading
spots for JUHYO, also known as “snow monsters.”
During the period of this festival, the
JUHYO are lit up by special “cocktail lamps.”
The JUHYO, which glow in the pitch darkness
of night, are a vision to behold. This grand
landscape of JUHYO can be seen near the
JIZO-SANCHO STATION of the ropeway. Special
events include a splendid performance by
members of a skiing school and a fireworks
