It is located along the Okawa river gorge. There are many Ryokan
(Japanese Inn) along the river and some of them has an outdoor bath from where
you can enjoy a view of the river.
Ouchi-syuku is one of the shyukubamachi (the areas developed
around inns in Edo era.) Ouchi-syuku where the old buildings are preserved has
an atmosphere of important cultural treasure. There are souvenir shops and restaurants.
Turuga-jo Castel is one of the most notorious old castles in
Tohoku. In Edo era the load of Aizu domain resided in the castle. The caste was
renovated in 1965. The inside the castle is the museum of the late load's estate
and Meiji Revolutionary War legacy. The surrounding area is a park and well-known
cherry blossom watching spot. Rinkaku tea room is designed by Shoan, a protege
of Sen no Rikyu, a founder of Tea Ceremony. You will feel the spirit of tea ceremony.
It is a replica of Tanomo Saigo's house. Tanomo was a Daimyo's
right-hand man who managed the Daimyo house. Inside there is a wax museum presenting
life in a samurai resident. Also there is a local food restaurants and souvenir
shop.
