Komaki-onsen is a large hot spring facility including a museum,
pond 4000squire meter bath called Oiwaburo and four hotels. Also, there is Shuji
Terayama Museum. Shuji Terayama is the Aomori-born movie director/play writer.
He was widely appreciated in 1960~70. His legacy is on display.
The most beautiful site in Towadako lake area. The contrast
of deep green woods and clear water is breath taking The 14 km mountain stream
begins from Nenokuchi and ends at Yakeyama. You can enjoy various sceneries such
as waterfalls, rock mountains and primeval forests. Along the stream There is
a promenade where you can enjoy strolling and exploring.
Choshi-otaki originated from Towadako lake is the only one water
fall over Okuirise stream. Choshi Otaki is 7meter-tall and 20 meter-wide and very
dynamic. There is a promenade starting at Ishigedo. It takes two hours and ten
minutes for you to get Choshi-otaki by walk while it takes 30 minutes from Nenokuchi.
You can drive to the water fall but it is very nice stralling the promenade. Choshi-otaki
has been called Sakanadome no taki (fish stopping fall) which stops fish going
into Towada-ko lake.
Towadako Winter Stories is a winter event held at Yasumiya-chiku
region in February, the coldest month of the year. Igloos, snow sculptures, slides
and snow lanterns will be displayed. The event is very popular among children.
