| SPRING TOP > IWATE:Cherry
blossoms of Kitakami Tenshochi |
 |

A
beautiful world exists along the Kitakami River, as the
lingering snow on Mt. Iwate shimmers in the distance.
Approximately 10,000 cherry trees planted along a distance
of over two kilometers burst into full bloom, and tourists
on horse-drawn carriages pass slowly under the pale pink
canopy. The tunnel of cherry blossoms appear to lead to
a land of enchantment. The best season to view the cherry
blossoms is from mid- through late-April. Cherry-viewing
boat tours and a number of other events are organized
during the cherry blossom season. Then, over 100,000 azaleas
planted at the Tenshochi of the Kitakami City Park bloom
and please the visitors' eyes, taking over the cherry
blossoms.

A
nostalgic horse-drawn carriage meanders between the cherry
trees. It seems as if the path leads to a world of fantasy.
