AOMORI NEBUTA MATSURI

"HANETO" dancers and others jump and dance with shouts
of "RASSERA" at the AOMOTRI NEBUTA MATSURI FESTIVAL which is held over
a period of six days from August 2 to August 7 every year.

YAMADERA

Popularly known as YAMADERA, the HOJYUSAN-RISSHAKUJI temple,
a branch of the ENRYAKUJI temple on MT. HIEI near KYOTO, was founded over 1,100
years ago by the priest JIKAKU DAISHI, and is one of the most renowned historic
temples in the TOHOKU region.

is held on a grand scale in cities, towns and villages from July 23 to July 25

The BANDAI PLATEAU was created by a large eruption that occurred
at MT.BANDAI in 1888. Hundreds of lakes in the vicinity, including LAKE HIBARA,
were also created at this time.
