festival outline
Boasting a history of a thousand years, the SOMA NOMAOI FESTIVAL is held on a grand scale in cities, towns and villages from July 23 to July 25 every year. People dressed as warriors going to war and processions of warriors riding on horseback call to mind the "AGE OF CIVIL WARS".

Highlight of the festival
Since the SOMA NOMAOI FESTIVAL is the biggest event of the area that was the territory of the former SOMA-HAN. Since the venue for each event covers a wide area, it is difficult to see them all, so visitors should decide on what they want to see the most.
The events of the second day with the mounted warrior parade, mounted warrior horse race and banner contest are the highlights of the festival. The SOMA NOMAOI FESTIVAL is the only event where you will be able to view as many as 600 mounted warriors in action. If you donft attend this event, you canft say that you have seen the SOMA NOMAOI FESTIVAL.
An admission ticket is necessary for attending the HIBARIGAHARA SAIJOCHI on July 24, the second day. Although same- day tickets are also sold at the event hall, it is more convenient for those who wish to see HIBARIGAHARA SAIJOCHI to get seats in advance at the municipal offices in HARAMACHI, SOMA or FUTABA district by July 23. If you live in a remote area, please remit payment to the SOMA NOMAOI FESTIVAL EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE to get advance sales admission tickets.
