At the MORIOKA SANSA ODORI FESTIVAL, the rhythms of flutes and drums resound in the twilight hours and about 30,000 people take part in the dance procession that takes place every year for three days from August 1. Visitors can enjoy such events as seeing Miss SANSA at the drum parade or dancers at the ring dance.
 
Highlight of the festival
The parade starts at twilight (18:00) from SHIYAKUSHO-MAE at 18:00 and proceeds for about 1km.
About 30,000 people from 150 organizations, including groups for Miss SANSA, Junior SANSA, traditional SANSA, workplace or community associations, participate in the grand parade over a three-day period. The splendid and brave drum parade performed by Miss SANSA is a sight to behold.
After this parade ends, it becomes time for the ring dance in which anyone can participate.
At the SHIMIN BUNKA HALL, the contest of traditional SANSA for every region is held.
