Panoramic view of beautiful autumn leaves from observation deck

Located at an altitude of 401m, LAKE TOWADA is a crater lake with a circumference of about 44km and lies between AOMORI PREF. and AKITA PREF. Although many tourists visit throughout the year since the changes from season to season are very beautiful, the loveliest time of year is autumn. There are observation decks around the perimeter of the lake. The views from HAKKA-TOGE, TAKINOSAWA, KANKODAI and MT. OHANABE are especially magnificent. The “Statue of Maidens,” sculpted by renowned sculptor and poet KOTARO TAKAMURA, is one of the most well known symbols of LAKE TOWADA.
